Three Cheers for Mamma

February 7, 2012

Mya and I dropped in to watch a bit of the WA State Cheer Championships.  Mya was in awe of the entire spectacle and impressed with her Mamma, right in the middle of it all.

Beware Ninja

February 6, 2012

Jamin is all about ninjas these days … ninja legos, ninja books or just pretending to be a ninja.

Favorite Boots

January 21, 2012

See these boots. They are her favorite.

They make her happy.

The dress too.  When she wants too look pretty, she picks this outfit (which would be everyday if it was up to her).

They are good for dancing too.

Oh look, Daddy is watching me from the window – ‘Hi Daddy!’

Snow, Snow Snow and More Snow

January 17, 2012

I know I’ve been lax about posting photos.  I never got around to posting Christmas and kept thinking I’d get caught up … you know how it goes.  I’ll just start with the present day and catch up on the other stuff when I get a chance.

It’s been snowing off and on for three days now.

It started with just a touch Saturday afternoon. The kids eagerly ran out to play.

Alas there wasn’t enough for a snowball fight or to build a snowman … yet.

Then Sunday arrived with 6 inches of snow.

The snowball fight is on.

Plenty of snow for a snowman now …

Make that a snowgirl.

Once inside the kids warm up with Snowman Soup.

Hot cocoa with marshmallows and Hersey kisses, all stirred together with a candy cane.

Yummy!

Next day even more snow.  Mamma and grandpa come by to join in the fun.

Mamma is just getting warmed up.

Jamin and Mamma gang up on Grandpa.

Look out Jamin, it’s coming right for your head! Grandpa has good aim.

Mya decides the snow is good for snacking.

Jamin is a scrappy snow ball fighter.

Mamma and Grandpa take each other on.

Mya declares herself the coach and says, “Half time!”

But Jamin is still going.

After the snowball fight, it’s a walk through the woods to the school yard.

Then home for Snowman Soup again.

That brings us up to today.  It’s still snowing.  School is cancelled. The kids have spent the morning watching TV and reading books.  They are tired and napping now.  Jamin says he is tired of the snow.  Mya wants to go back to school.  Still they’ve made plans to go sledding with friends tomorrow (just in case school is cancelled again).

Mya Cooks for Christmas

December 24, 2011

She’s making the stuffing for the mushrooms …

and measuring ingredients for the cracker dip (while telling me how hard it is to measure and mix, when I keep asking for photos).

Jamin says, “oh wait, you’re making the treats? I’ll come help … eat the extras.”

Merry You Will Be

December 24, 2011

All month, as he received mini Star Wars sets on the advent calendar, Jamin as been anticipating the arrival of Santa Yoda.  Today he arrived. Here he is with the tree (which came yesterday).

Jamin wanted in on the photo.

Happy Birthday Jesus

December 18, 2011

Yesterday was the final rehearsal for the church Christmas Pageant; Happy Birthday Jesus.  Jamin has been practicing with the kids’ choir for weeks. Last week Mya agreed to be an angel for the final nativity scene (she was all about shiny wings and sparkles).  However at the rehearsal the two little angels did such a great job with the songs they decided to join the entire show.

Here’s a look at rehearsal …

Then we get to this morning.  Jamin does not want to do this.  He wants to go home.  Mya is excited. Everyone up to the platform and commence singing.

Jamin is over his stage fright and is up there singing his heart out.  Way to go Jamin!

Wait … we are missing angel number 2 … anyone seen angel 2?

Ms. Lois, one of the directors, has found her.  She changed her mind.  She does not want to go up onto the stage.

After a bit of coaxing, she finally agrees to stand on the stairs, but there is only one place she will to stand.  Can you guess?

Yep, with her big brother. She stood there throughout the 20 minute production, with Jamin occasionally giving her a pat on the head or a quick hug.  It was very sweet.  Good big brother award going out to Jamin.

By the end, she was even willing to go up for the nativity scene.

Way to go kiddos!

Jingle All the Way

December 7, 2011

She has been practicing her songs for weeks and she is ready.

Aren’t they cute?

“Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way …”
